TikTok star Won Jeong arrested on sexual assault charges

The well-known Korean TikTok influencer, Won Jeong, has recently found himself in the media spotlight for reasons other than his entertaining content. News of his arrest on charges of sexual assault has spread rapidly across various social media platforms, garnering widespread attention.

Jeong has firmly established himself on TikTok, where his humorous video clips have attracted a substantial following of over 55.5 million. His online presence also extends to YouTube, where he has amassed a further 11 million subscribers.

Despite launching his TikTok career relatively recently in late 2020, Jeong has quickly become renowned for his recurring use of the word “Mama” in his videos, earning him the nickname Mama Boy Ox Zung. However, his online activity abruptly ceased a few months ago, with his last post being a cryptic TikTok video dated July 22, 2023.

The sudden absence of Jeong’s popular content left his fans puzzled until the revelation of his arrest. As reported by SBS, Jeong is currently facing sexual assault charges. This news has sent shockwaves through the online community, leading to an influx of questions regarding the case.

The details surrounding the charges suggest a disturbing scenario. It is alleged that Jeong, along with another man who remains unidentified, encouraged a woman to consume alcohol to the point of unconsciousness. It is then claimed that they transported the incapacitated woman to a friend’s residence, where they proceeded to sexually assault her until she regained consciousness.

The woman reported the incident to the police on December 12, 2023, leading to the subsequent arrests of Jeong and his companion. An investigation into the allegations is currently underway.

Presently, Jeong remains in police custody. If found guilty of the charges levied against him, he could face a prison sentence of up to seven years. The first court trial is slated for January 17, 2024.

Interestingly, the process of detaining Jeong was not straightforward. Reports indicate that when the police arrived at his residence for the investigation, Jeong and his cohorts refused to allow them entry. This necessitated the involvement of firefighters to gain access to the property. Following preliminary investigations, the case was forwarded to prosecution, with further updates to follow in due course.

This shocking news serves as a stark reminder of the importance of holding influential figures accountable for their actions, regardless of their social media popularity. Although the outcome of the case is yet to be determined, it is clear that this event has significantly impacted Jeong’s online persona and his standing with his millions of followers.
